The Clarksburg Lion's web site started on July 20th, 2007. This site provides up-to-date information on club activities, club history, contacts, and other relevant information.


The site's mission is to improve member and public support of Club activities by providing timely information on upcoming activities so that they may participate and support club activities. Ultimately, people will see better, feel better, and live better.

Club Officers' Responsibilities & Committees


President: 
  • Chief Executive Officer of the club; presides at the meetings of the board of directors and the club;
  • Issues the call for regular and special meetings of the Board of Directors and the club;
  • Appoints the standing and regular committees of the club and cooperates with chairperson thereof to effect regular functioning and reporting of such committees;
  • Sees that regular elections are duly called, noticed and held; and
  • Cooperates with and be an active member of the district governor's advisory committee of the zone in which the club is located.
Immediate Past President: and other past presidents shall officially greet members and their guests at club meetings and shall represent this club in welcoming all new service-minded people in the community served by the club.
Vice Presidents:  If the President cannot perform the duties of the president's office for any reason, the Vice President(S) shall occupy this position and perform the duties with the same authority as the president. Each Vice President shall, under the direction of the President, oversee the functions of such committees of the club as the president shall designate.
Secretary:  Shall be under the supervision and direction of the President and the Board of Directors and shall act as the liaison officer between the club and the district in which the club is located, and Lions Clubs International
Treasurer:  Shall receive all monies, deposit same in the club bank accounts, and disburse monies only authorized by the Board of Directors.  Have custody of, keep, and maintain all financial records of the club.  Prepare and submit monthly and semi-annual reports to the international office and the board of directors.
Lion Tamer:  Shall have charge of and be responsible for the property and paraphernalia of the club. The Lion Tamer shall put each in its proper place before each meeting and return the same to the proper storage area. The Lion Tamer shall give special attention to assure that each new member sits with a different group at each meeting so they can become better acquainted.
Tail Twister:  Shall promote harmony, good fellowship, life, and enthusiasm in the meetings through appropriate stunts and games and the judicious imposition of fines on club members.
Membership Director:  Shall be chairman of the membership committee and member of the club's Board of Directors. The committee shall develop a growth program especially for the club and approval of the Board of Directors.  Encourages members to bring in new members, ensures proper recruitment procedures, and ensures proper orientation sessions. The Membership Director serves on the zone level membership committee.
Directors:  Constitutes the executive board of the club and is responsible for the execution, through the club officers, of the policies approved by the club.  All new business and policy of the club shall be considered and shaped by the board of directors, including the approval of new prospects for membership.
Board of Directors:  Includes the President, immediate past president, Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Lion Tamer, Tail Twister, Membership Director, and all elected directors.

MAJOR CLUB COMMITTEES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sight & Hearing Committee: 
Handles all requests for eyeglasses, hearing aids, and eye surgeries; plans and coordinates Sight Conservation Day; attends to all specific requests involving sight and hearing needs from the public.
Community Outreach Committee: 
Develops, plans, and coordinates all non-sight or hearing related activities that impact adults in the community, such as food bank donations, mission meals and donations, VA Christmas Party, etc.
Youth Outreach Committee: 
Develops, plans, and coordinates all non-sight or hearing related activities that impact youth in the community, such as LEO club sponsorship, Peace Poster Contest, Flag Day, youth camps, etc.
Membership Committee: 
Responsible for a membership growth and retention and coordinating fundraisers in order to finance and support our club outreach and service activities.
Ways and Means Committee: 
Develops, plans, and coordinate fundraisers in order to finance and support our club outreach and service activities.
Public Relations Committee:
Insures that the club service projects, fundraising activities, regular meetings, and special events receive complete and effective public exposure through all appropriate media, the club newsletter, the district newsletter, and district website.
Finance Committee: 
Insures that the club’s accounts are properly audited annually; provides suggestions on ways that the club can supplement its administrative funds; generally oversees all aspects of club financial matters and offers suggestions for improvement and cost savings.
Programs Committee: 
Secures speakers for the club’s Friday meetings.  There is generally a general program chairman, who selects and secures different Lions to be monthly program chairperson for the year.
Greeters Committee: 
Working with the past presidents, Lion Tamer, and Tail Twister, ensures that all Lions, particularly newer Lions and guests are made welcome and introduced to other Lions.
Convention Committee: 
Promotes the district, West Virginia Lions Leadership School, and the State Convention among the club members and encourages attendance and participation.
Note:  From time to time, there may be a need for the President to appoint other special committees or project chairperson to handle a special need or activity.  This list is by no means exhaustive, but illustrates those club committees that are generally most active during the year..
